Hi. I'm glad you're here. This space is for sharing all about what's going on in my life. Enjoy!

A look into my life, my training, my accomplishments and my goals.

Warm, sunny, new

I know I’ll be singing a different tune come summer, but the warmth in Houston, Texas, right now is feeding my soul with exactly what I need right now.

The trees are green. The sunshine feels rejuvenating on my skin. I have been able to ride my bike outside and walk in just a T-shirt or a hoodie without the wind assaulting me. I did a Les Mills Core workout on the patio in the sunshine, and ran an easy mile around the neighborhood this week. I’ve been trying to create a consistent schedule again for training, and even though I’m not really training for anything yet (I gave myself a break), it’s nice to have that schedule up and running again.

For the moment, life seems pretty OK.

I haven’t had a whole lot of time to dwell on the past. It comes to me in little bits and pieces, but nothing overwhelming. It helps when nothing in your immediate vicinity reminds you of it.

But I’m also really excited about my future. I’m really looking forward to Austin and everything it has to offer, which is a lot. It may be different from what I was used to, but I think that’s a good thing.

Austin has this bike path called the Veloway that is only for bikes. I can’t wait to get out there and ride some training laps around it! I’m sure that’s where I’m going to take my first outdoor bike ride (especially since everyone keeps hyping it up)! And I hear Lance trains on there … woah!

There’s miles and miles of city paths to walk on. There’s a spring-fed public pool that’s warm throughout the year, which means I can swim every day if I want to. Outside!

I might need to buy a new shade of makeup because my skin won’t be so pale anymore, I think. (This is a bonus, I love Vitamin D!) I probably won’t have to supplement in the winter months anymore.

There’s plenty of outdoor spaces to pass time during the pandemic, and there will be plenty of indoor spaces to welcome us for what will be endless fun nights once it’s over.

There’s an NA bar! I feel like this place is going to be my favorite hangout soon.

There’s outdoor organizations that I’m going to connect with for volunteer work. Really looking forward to that piece. I want to do more of this type of stuff to support our Two for the Trails program. I love keeping our shared spaces beautiful and well maintained.

Things still seem a little scary and uncertain right now. But I’ve got my dogs, I’ve got my essentials, and I’ve got everything I need right now. That’s really all that matters.

My moving truck is scheduled to be delivered today, so that’ll be everything else I need.

Then, we’re packing up the vehicles on Saturday and moving right on over to Austin. My first full day in my new hometown!
